I spent the later part of August driving to and through Glacier National Park.  This spectacular scene captures Wild Goose Island looking west toward the continental divide.  This was the only day that this view was available due to a forest fire in the western part of the park.  Briefly the wind shifted to the north and moved out enough smoke to allow the views for which Glacier is world famous.  Working quickly, I only had time to block in the shapes and values before my view gradually once again evaporated into a smoky mist.  The finish details were, therefore, finished in studio upon my return.
