Sabino Creek, most years, runs 365 days a year.  It is a unique ecosystem where Saguaro Cactus live in close proximity to deciduous trees that have roots extended to the water source. However, with this year's drought, the stream virtually dried up after the higher elevation snow was gone.  Even though I was inspired to do this painting by a walk in the canyon this past weekend, I had to go back to a prior year's reference photo for the water in the pools.  With luck, we'll soon have some rain and the stream will flow once again.
